British number one Anne Keothavong has advanced to the second round of Wimbledon with a 6-3 6-3 win over Laura Pous-Tio.
The early exchanges went with serve before the home favourite secured a break midway through the opening set to take charge of the contest.
At 4-2 up in the first, Keothavong held her serve twice to take a one-set lead over her Spanish opponent, who is ranked number 95 in the world.
Seemingly buoyed by her first-set triumph, Keothavong stormed into a three-nil lead in the second thanks to some very smart net play.
Minutes later she had the chance to serve out for the match but was broken for the first time as Pous-Tio pulled the second set back to 5-3.
However, Keothavong soon wrapped up the result with a replica of the first-set scoreline, becoming the third British woman through following Elena Baltacha and Heather Watson's victories.
She will play French Open finalist Sara Errani in the second round.
