Report: FA makes last-ditch Alex Iwobi England bid

The Football Association is reportedly making a last-ditch bid to stop Arsenal starlet Alex Iwobi committing his international future to Nigeria.

The Football Association has reportedly made a last-gasp bid to persuade Arsenal youngster Alex Iwobi to commit his international future to England.

The 19-year-old, who has broken into the Gunners' first-team picture in recent months, has played two friendlies for the country of his birth, Nigeria, but will not be fully committed to the Super Eagles until he turns out in a competitive fixture.

According to The Mirror, the FA wants to recapture Iwobi's services after the forward turned out for England at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 levels.

He is in line to make his competitive debut for Nigeria this week having been named in the senior squad for an upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double header.

Iwobi has started three of Arsenal's last four games and capped his full Premier League debut at Everton on Saturday with his first Gunners goal.
