Ray Parlour praises strength of Arsenal's midfield

Former Arsenal player Ray Parlour says that the club is looking impressive in the midfield department.

Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour has praised the strength in depth of the club's midfield and believes that Arsene Wenger faces a tough choice of selecting who starts.

Mesut Ozil and Mathieu Flamini joined the club in the summer to increase the competition for places within the squad, and Parlour believes that having a strong midfield is vital when challenging for trophies.

"It's looking very strong, no matter who starts," he told the club's official website. "There is so much depth in the midfield with Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini - who has been a great signing - Ozil, Jack Wilshere, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Cazorla - so it's a real headache for the manager.

"Aaron Ramsey's been the player of the season so far, he's been superb with the goals he's scored but the whole midfield are very adaptive now.

"When you look at teams like Barcelona, their midfield has always been the most important part of their game so hopefully Arsenal will be very similar."

Arsenal are currently top of the Premier League table and are back in action on Saturday when they face Norwich City at the Emirates Stadium.
