Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere "willing to go abroad"

England midfielder Jack Wilshere admits that he is open to a move abroad following his departure from Arsenal.

Jack Wilshere has revealed that he remains open to a move abroad following his departure from Arsenal.

The 26-year-old provisionally accepted a pay cut to remain at the Emirates Stadium, but chose to leave after learning that his first-team opportunities would be limited under new boss Unai Emery.

A number of Premier League sides have been linked with Wilshere as well as clubs in Italy, while Turkish giants Fenerbahce have emerged as the latest contenders for the Englishman's services.

"I am willing to go abroad if the right opportunity comes up," Wilshere told Sky Sports News. "Also, everyone knows I like the Premier League and the battle of it.

"It is literally the best thing that comes up and the best opportunity that we will take. I am not really in any rush, today (Saturday) is actually my last day with my contract at Arsenal, so it's been a bit of a strange day.

"I have played 10 years as a professional there and had 17 years at the club. We are looking at things and I am keeping myself fit. So if something does come up I am ready to go."

Wilshere had been with Arsenal since the age of nine, joining his boyhood club in 2001 and going on to make almost 200 first-team appearances for the North Londoners.
