Arsenal are in talks with Atletico Madrid over a potential deal for French attacker Thomas Lemar, according to a report.

Arsenal are reportedly in negotiations with Atletico Madrid over a potential deal for Thomas Lemar.

The Gunners have been strongly linked with the Frenchman since the start of the January transfer window.

According to RMC Sport, Mikel Arteta's side are in talks with Atletico over the 24-year-old, who has failed to score or provide an assist in 21 appearances for his Spanish club during the 2019-20 campaign.

However, the report claims that the two sides are some way apart when it comes to a transfer fee, while Arsenal are also far from agreeing personal terms with the attacker.

Lemar, who has been capped on 22 occasions by France, has only managed three goals and six assists in 64 appearances for Diego Simeone's side since arriving from Monaco in July 2018.

The attacker has a contract at the Wanda Metropolitano until the end of the 2022-23 campaign.
