Arsenal are reportedly lining up a bid for Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey in the January transfer window.
The Gunners are considering possible midfield options due to the uncertain future of Aaron Ramsey, who is in the final year of his contract at the Emirates Stadium.
Ramsey looks increasingly likely to leave the club next year, although Arsenal could look to cash in on the Wales international in January rather than losing him on a free transfer next summer.
Ghanasoccernet reports that Arsenal boss Unai Emery has identified Partey as a potential transfer target, having also kept tabs on the 25-year-old during his time in charge of Sevilla.
Partey made 50 appearances for Atletico Madrid last season as they won the Europa League and finished second in La Liga, but the report claims that Diego Simeone could be prepared to let the Ghanaian leave the club if he is able to sign Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus.
However, Arsenal could face competition for Partey from Emery's former club PSG, who are looking to bolster their own midfield ranks due to injury problems and Adrien Rabiot's contract situation.
