Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy: 'Tyrone Mings going nowhere'

Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy says that Tyrone Mings is "not going anywhere" in January amid interest from Premier League clubs.

Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy has insisted that young full-back Tyrone Mings is "not going anywhere" this month.

The 21-year-old's performances in the Championship this season for high-flying Ipswich have prompted Premier League interest, with Arsenal and Stoke City said to be looking at signing the left-back.

However, McCarthy is confident that any suitors wouldn't be willing to pay Ipswich's asking price.

"They haven't got enough money, well they might do, but they're not going to be prepared to pay it," McCarthy said ahead of Ipswich's FA Cup replay with Southampton on Wednesday.

"He's not going anywhere, you might as well hear it from me. He's a really good player but he's not going anywhere. Why would he not want to try and get promoted with us?"

Despite losing at home to promotion rivals Derby County on Saturday - Ipswich's first defeat in 12 league games - the Blues are still just a point off the top.
