Arsene Wenger still in the market for defender this month

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he still wants to sign a defender this month after Mathieu Debuchy dislocates his shoulder in the win over Stoke City.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reasserted that the club are after a defensive signing in January.

Wenger saw first-choice right-back Mathieu Debuchy stretched off with a dislocated shoulder in their win over Stoke City, but the Frenchman says that Debuchy's injury will not alter his plans this month.

He told reporters: "Not so much because we were in the market anyway. Nacho Monreal and Debuchy can play centre-back, but if Kieran Gibbs is not here Monreal can not play centre-back and if Debuchy is not here he can not play centre-back."

Arsenal have been repeatedly linked with a move for Ipswich Town defender Tyrone Mings.
