Willian's talks over an extension to his contract at Chelsea are reportedly dead in the water, paving the way for the Brazilian to join Tottenham Hotspur or Arsenal.

Willian's hopes of agreeing a contract extension at Chelsea are reportedly 'dead in the water'.

The Brazilian's current deal is due to expire next month, pending a possible temporary extension to take it to the end of the coronavirus-affected season.

However, the chances of him staying at Stamford Bridge beyond then look increasingly unlikely, with Willian revealing that the two parties are still at odds over the length any new contract should be.

Willian wants a three-year extension whereas Chelsea are only willing to offer two years, and football.london reports that neither side is likely to budge in negotiations.

The report also claims that Chelsea's London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are in pole position to sign the 31-year-old, who has made no secret of his desire to stay in the capital if possible.

Willian also recently admitted that he remains "great friends" with Spurs boss Jose Mourinho, although he denied reports that a move to Tottenham has already been agreed.

The winger has scored seven goals and created six more in 37 appearances across all competitions this season.
