Report: Aston Villa's £12m Jordan Ayew bid accepted

A report claims that Jordan Ayew's switch to Aston Villa has moved a step closer, after Ligue 1 side Lorient accepted a £12m bid from the Midlands club.

Aston Villa have reportedly had a £12m bid for striker Jordan Ayew accepted by French club Lorient.

The Ghana international scored 12 goals last season to see his name linked with numerous clubs across Europe.

Borussia Dortmund are said to have been among those interested, while Villa's Premier League rivals Everton have also been tipped with making a move.

According to Sky Sport News, however, the Villans have won the race to land the 23-year-old's signature thanks to the £32m windfall received from Christian Benteke's recent switch to Liverpool.

Ayew still has three years left to run on his current Lorient deal.
