Jon Stead unsurprised by Bradford City heroics

Jon Stead claims that he and his Bradford teammates were not overly surprised by their own heroics in beating Chelsea 4-2.

Jon Stead has claimed that he and his Bradford City teammates always believed that they could beat Chelsea following Saturday's 4-2 win at Stamford Bridge.

Stead scored and grabbed two assists as the Premier League leaders bowed out of the FA Cup in arguably the biggest shock that the competition has seen in recent years.

However, the 31-year-old, on loan from Huddersfield Town, insists that the League One outfit always knew that they were capable of the giant-killing.

"We never felt Stamford Bridge could be a Bridge too far for us," he told The Mirror. "Don't get me wrong, what we did against Chelsea was an incredible achievement by the team and it was a fantastic, fabulous day for the football club.

"For a team in the third tier of English football to go to the home of the side who are number one in the country and roll them over is just incredible.

"But the truth of it is that we went into this tie with no fear. Absolutely none at all."

On Sunday, Bantams boss Phil Parkinson expressed a desire to be paired with Manchester United in the fifth round.
