Lee Carsley: 'It was my final game'

Lee Carsley reveals that the 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest was his final game as caretaker boss of Brentford.

Lee Carsley has confirmed that Saturday's 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest was his final game as Brentford boss.

Promoted from the development squad to take charge of the first team following the dismissal of Marinus Dijkhuizen, Carsley has taken the Bees up to 11th and was named the Championship manager of the month for October.

Brentford are believed to be close to appointing Swansea City assistant manager Pep Clotet, and Carsley admits that it was pleasing to sign off with a win.

"This was my last game so it was nice to get a result," he told reporters. "My remit was always to get us back on track and now, with the way we've been playing and a lot of the injured boys coming back to fitness, I can say I've done that.

"I will be staying on to help with the transition before returning to my old role, we have players coming back from injury and are in a strong position."

Brentford could have their new manager in place by next Monday's meeting with Bolton Wanderers.
