Sami Hyypia: 'Players must show character'

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Sami Hyypia wants his players to show their "true character" to end their 10-match run without a win.

Sami Hyypia has called on his Brighton & Hove Albion players to show their "true character" after extending their run without a win to 10 matches.

The Seagulls took the lead against Rotherham United yesterday, but were pegged back after the break in a 1-1 draw which left them just one place above the Championship relegation places.

Hyypia told the club's website: "We need to roll up our sleeves and get the win one way or another. We can't play nicely and only pick up draws or lose games.

"I don't know if it's complacency or naivety. I spoke to the players ahead of the second half about everyone having to do their defensive duties to win the game.

"The table doesn't look good at the moment, but the only thing we can do is not shrink away from the challenge and show the true character we have in the squad."

Brighton travel to Tottenham Hotspur in the Capital One Cup fourth round on Wednesday.
