Sami Hyypia: 'I'm not under pressure from Brighton & Hove Albion board'

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Sami Hyypia insists that he is not under pressure from the club's board of directors to turn around the team's form.

Sami Hyypia has insisted that he has not been put under any pressure by the board of directors at Brighton & Hove Albion, despite the team being without a win in nine matches.

The Seagulls' winless run has seen them slip to 21st in the table, just a point clear of the relegation zone.

The manager told BBC Sport: "I don't need [assurances]. Nobody has said anything else to me and we haven't talked about the situation a lot. I think it is an unnecessary conversation.

"I haven't noticed or heard anything that would be different. If they put pressure on me or say something to me like 'it's not good, we have to win the next game or otherwise you can walk' then I would say straight away.

"As long as I am in this position I know that I have the backing of everyone in the club. When that day comes that they say 'thanks a lot, that's enough' then I know the backing is not there any more. Until that day comes I know nobody has to say to me that I have their backing. I know it is there."

Brighton face Rotherham United in the Championship this afternoon.
