Gus Poyet admits that Brighton's Championship playoff semi-final defeat may cause him to consider his future as Seagulls boss.

Gus Poyet has hinted that Brighton & Hove Albion's Championship semi-final playoff defeat to Crystal Palace may cause him to consider his future at the club.

Manchester United-bound Wifried Zaha netted twice as Palace beat the Seagulls 2-0 on aggregate to book a Wembley showdown against Watford, with a place in the Premier League next season up for grabs.

Former Chelsea midfielder Poyet has been linked with managerial positions at several top-flight clubs during his time at the Falmer Stadium, and the Uruguayan has suggested that Brighton's failure to gain promotion will result in him weighing up his career options.

He told Sky Sports News: "I am under contract so it is a situation I have nothing to talk about, because I am under contract. But I need to analyse as well my personal career.

"You have a very, very good season - better than expected. You have done something very good and then, because of this playoff, you go home with a terrible feeling. I am really sad. That is the feeling in the dressing room."

Poyet was most recently touted as a possible replacement for Brian McDermott at Reading, before Nigel Adkins was handed the Royals hot seat.
