Cardiff City chief executive Alan Whiteley says that the Bluebirds will be interested in signing Craig Bellamy from Liverpool if the forward becomes available.

Cardiff City chief executive Alan Whiteley has revealed that the club would be open to re-signing Liverpool forward Craig Bellamy this summer.

The Welshman, who moved back to Anfield last summer from Manchester City on a free transfer, has one year left on his current deal on Merseyside.

"We'd love to have Craig back," BBC Sport quotes Whiteley as saying. "But he is a Liverpool player and until Liverpool and Craig decide what they are going to do, there are conversations that we can't even have at the moment.

"We don't know how it is going to pan out and it is for Craig and Liverpool to decide what they are going to do first. But if Craig decides he is going to leave Liverpool and Liverpool are prepared to let him go, then clearly we'd love to talk to him."

Bellamy played for the Bluebirds on a loan deal in 2010 from Man City.
