Good afternoon! Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is due to speak to the media in the next 15 minutes as he prepares his side for a trip to Manchester City in the Premier League.

It's been an eventful week for the manager, who saw his side reduced to 10 men in a draw with Swansea last week, before being criticised for banning the club's doctor from the bench after she treated Eden Hazard towards the end of that fixture. It will be interesting to hear what the manager has to say about Eva Carneiro today.

It sounds like Mourinho is going to be starting his press conference with a prepared statement, presumably in relation to the Carneiro situation. The doctor has been well-supported over her actions by fellow medical professionals and FIFA.

Chelsea have been focused on this weekend's fixture on their social media accounts, reminding fans of a previous meeting against City:

This is, of course, a meeting between two sides that are likely to be challenging at the business end of the table in nine months time. Man City made a bright start to their new season with a convincing win over Web Brom on Monday evening.

Right then, the manager is in place, so let's see what he has to say...

Straight to the Carneiro issue, Mourinho says: "I don't want to run away from it. I accept the question, and understand. First of all, I want to say I have a fantastic medical team led by Dr Paco Biosca, more than a dozen professionals, very good relations with them and, as they tell me all the time, they were never praised so much as in the last few years. I praise them lots of times. We have disagreements during this period, we need disagreements to improve. We work together."

Mourinho adds: "[Physio] Jon Fearn and Dr Carneiro will not be on the bench on Sunday, but that doesn't mean they cannot be in the future."

Mourinho won't be taking any further questions about the medical staff, as he announces: "If you want to speak to me about football I'm here. If you want to ask about other things I'm not here."

Mourinho is asked if he regrets what he said last week. He responds: "The game is emotional, football is football, and the match is the match. Everything after the match can be different, especially after the meeting I had with my medical department yesterday."

The manager reiterates: "The ones that like football, please stay. They ones that don't, go or don't ask questions. If somebody thinks that a disagreement between the manager and medical staff can affect the team, they don't have a clue."

Finally Mourinho gets to move onto his team news, revealing: "Oscar is a doubt. He had a little injury in training. Courtois is suspended. Apart from that, it's all good."

Dropping points last week has led to renewed transfer speculation surrounding Chelsea, but Mourinho insists: "If we are not top of the league in terms of the spenders, people don't need to be worried."

Mourinho is asked how important this match is in the title race, and he says: "We are speaking about 38 matches. It is an eternity, a marathon that started last week. I cannot say it's not crucial, I cannot say it's not very, very, very important. They're title contenders so three points are important, but I cannot say that a win will mean anything significant."

Despite Mourinho's request for no Carneiro questions, the manager is asked if he has spoken to the players about the situation. He replies: "The only thing they have to worry about is having the best around them in this club, they're surrounded by top quality people. The most important thing for them is medical attention during the week."

Replays of the incident suggest that Hazard requested Carneiro come on to treat him, but when Mourinho is asked if that was the case, he quickly retorts: "I'm not discussing it."

Mourinho as asked about the stability at the club. He tells reporters: "I believe the owner will be here for many, many years. The board just gave me a new contract, and we have great stability."

And with that, Mourinho ends his press conference. The statement on the club's medical team meant that Mourinho was able to avoid too many awkward questions about his conflict with Eva Carneiro. Fans will also be concerned by the news that Oscar is carrying a training knock, as he was heavily involved against Swansea.
