Chelsea will be looking to avoid breaking a 20-year streak when they face Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Chelsea will be looking to avoid ending a 20-year streak when they make the trip to Southampton this weekend.

Despite sitting in third position in the Premier League standings, the Blues have endured a frustrating seven days, which started with a 4-1 home defeat against Brentford.

Four days later, Thomas Tuchel witnessed his side suffer a 3-1 reverse at the hands of Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

The double setback was the first time since September that Chelsea have suffered two defeats in a row, and they will be bidding to avoid making that three on the South Coast.

Should the Saints prevail at St Mary's, it will inflict a third successive defeat on Chelsea for the first time since 2002, when the West Londoners were managed by Claudio Ranieri.

On that occasion, Chelsea lost to West Ham United and Liverpool in the Premier League, with a surprise 4-2 loss at the hands of Viking FK coming in the UEFA Cup.
