Jose Mourinho: 'Oscar booking was correct'

Jose Mourinho says that Oscar's booking for diving was the correct decision by referee Martin Atkinson

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has said that Oscar deserved to be booked for a second-half dive as his team beat Southampton 3-0.

The Brazilian was given the yellow card for going down under a challenge from Kelvin Davis and replays showed the decision to be correct.

"The yellow card was very much deserved," Mourinho told BT Sport. "I am happy with the decision but I think that Oscar is a clean boy. He's waiting for the contact from the goalkeeper, and [if it arrives] it is a penalty, a red card, and [maybe] a goal. The game is then in our pocket.

"It was a good decision from referee Martin Atkinson, it should happen more in this country.

"That type of thing happens every week and yellows should be given. Not in Oscar's case though, he is normally a very fair boy."

The win leaves Chelsea third in the Premier League.
