Graham Potter "concerned" by Chelsea's performance in Nottingham Forest draw

Graham Potter says that he had been left "concerned" by the level of Chelsea's performance during the 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Graham Potter has acknowledged that he has some 'concerns' regarding the development of his Chelsea side after a below-par performance during a 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest.

On the back of breezing past Bournemouth earlier in the week, Chelsea went into Sunday's Premier League fixture at the City Ground looking to make further progress up the standings.

After Forest had more than matched the Blues during the opening stages, Chelsea went in front in fortuitous circumstances, the ball hitting the crossbar and dropping to the feet of Raheem Sterling who converted from close range.

However, despite it being anticipated that Chelsea would kick on during the second half, Forest were by far the better side after the break, deservedly finding an equaliser through Serge Aurier.

While chances were far and between as the game drew to a close, Forest were the happier with the share of the spoils as Chelsea were left to rue more dropped points.

The West Londoners now sit in eighth position in the table, seven points adrift of Manchester United, who occupy the final Champions League spot.

Speaking after the game in the East Midlands, Potter was quick to admit that Chelsea would not have deserved maximum points even if they had found a winner through a late Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opening.

The Englishman told BBC Sport: "Hard earned point, against a team that are set up well, they put us under pressure in the second half.

"Our performance level wasn't good enough to take the three points. We didn't move the ball fast enough, not enough movement. But it would've been unfair to take the three points.

"When the game became a bit more out of control, we suffered with the duels and struggled to deal with that aspect. It's a tough game, Forest played a good game but we're disappointed with our performance over the 90 minutes and concerned we didn't deserve the win."

Chelsea are back in action on Thursday when they play host to Manchester City, three days before the teams lock horns again in the FA Cup at the Etihad Stadium.
