Steve Round backs Phil Jagielka for England

Everton assistant boss Steve Round backs Phil Jagielka to replace John Terry in the England team.

Everton assistant boss Steve Round believes that Toffees defender Phil Jagielka has the ability to replace John Terry in the England team.

Chelsea skipper Terry announced his retirement from international football on Sunday, opening up a place in Roy Hodgson's first team for upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

"Without doubt it is a chance for Phil to stake a claim, it is a terrific opportunity, it really is," Round told reporters.

Jagielka has 14 international caps to his name.
