Chelsea are reportedly considering the possibility of making Joao Felix's loan move from Atletico Madrid permanent in the summer transfer window.

Chelsea reportedly want to sign Atletico Madrid loanee Joao Felix on a permanent transfer in the summer.

Felix signed for Chelsea in the January transfer window, joining on a loan deal until the end of the 2022-23 season.

Although the forward has had to settle for two goals in his 12 Chelsea appearances, he has largely impressed since arriving at Stamford Bridge.

Prior to completing his loan move to Chelsea, the Portugal international signed an extension with Atletico until June 2027.

The La Liga club were keen agree a long-term deal to give them the best possible negotiating position should they decide to sell him.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are making plans for the future and they want to include Felix in their long-term project.

The Chelsea board are happy with his progress at the club and as a result, they want to make his loan move permanent in the summer transfer window.

The report also claims that the player himself is open to the possibility of staying with the West London side.

A potential summer move will reportedly depend on the managerial situation at Stamford Bridge, with the Blues currently looking for a permanent manager after recently appointing Frank Lampard as head coach until the end of the season.

The identity of the new boss will be crucial as they will have a say in whether Chelsea pursue a permanent deal for Felix.

Another stumbling block could be Atletico's asking price, with the Spanish club looking to receive a significant fee.

With Chelsea looking to reach an agreement on a transfer, they are supposedly planning on meeting with Atletico to begin negotiations.

Felix is expected to be involved when the Blues travel to the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday to face Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie.
