Crystal Palace look to go unbeaten in the first five home games of a top-flight season for the first time since 1990, as they host Newcastle United on Saturday.

Crystal Palace head into Saturday's Premier League clash with Newcastle United looking to equal their best home start for 31 years.

Since Patrick Vieira's appointment in the summer, the Eagles have played four league games at Selhurst Park, collecting six points thanks to three draws and a 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

They will now look to go unbeaten in the first five home league games for the first time since the 1996-97 season, while they last did so in the top flight in the 1990-91 campaign, as reported by Goal.

Vieira marked his first home game in charge with a goalless draw against Brentford, before Wilfried Zaha converted a penalty and summer signing Odsonne Edouard netted a brace off the bench in the eye-catching victory over Tottenham.

The Eagles have now drawn their last three league games and have shared the spoils in five of their opening eight outings - the most draws at this stage since Arsenal and Sunderland both sat on five from eight games in the 2014-15 season.
