Damien Delaney hails daring Crystal Palace after Chelsea scalp

Damien Delaney says that Crystal Palace's 2-1 win at Chelsea is just reward for a brave attacking strategy at the home of the Premier League champions.

Damien Delaney has praised his Crystal Palace teammates for their sense of adventure en route to this afternoon's shock 2-1 win at Premier League champions Chelsea.

Alan Pardew's men defied the odds as Joel Ward's 81st-minute header proved enough for the Eagles, who spurned a number of chances in a one-sided second half.

Even after opening the scoring through Bakary Sako on 65 minutes, Palace refused to sit back, and Delaney says that fortune favoured the brave at Stamford Bridge.

"That was full throttle for 90 minutes. It wasn't a sit-in, 11-men beside the ball game. We had a good few chances and could have made it more comfortable," he told BBC Sport.

"We've come here the last two years, sat in and got beat. But we said 'if we're going to get beat, let's have a go'.

"Once we got them on the back foot we thought we could keep them low after their start to the season."

Radamel Falcao had equalised moments before Ward's winner. Consequence of the win, Pardew's side have now won three of their four league outings.
