Martin Kelly praises Crystal Palace "character"

Martin Kelly believes that Crystal Palace showed "great character" to beat former club Liverpool 3-1 at Anfield.

Crystal Palace defender Martin Kelly has claimed that the team showed "great character" to beat Liverpool at Anfield.

The Eagles came from behind to earn a 3-1 win on Saturday, ruining Steven Gerrard's last home match for the Reds in the process.

Kelly, who spent seven years with Liverpool before joining Palace, believes that his side deserved to come away from Merseyside with the spoils thanks to a spirited performance.

"I thought we played well," he told the club's official website. "We looked very dangerous when we were on the ball. We showed great character to come from 1-0 down at Anfield to get the result, when they go ahead here they usually win the game. I think we showed great character to come back and get the win."

Palace finish their Premier League campaign on Sunday when they welcome Swansea City to Selhurst Park.
