Derby County have reportedly made an approach to CSKA Moscow to sign striker Tomas Necid in January.
The 25-year-old, who is out of contract with the Russian side next summer, is currently on loan to Dutch outfit PEC Zwolle.
The Championship leaders have scouted Necid this season and are said to be impressed with the Czech Republic international.
Necid's loan with Zwolle is scheduled to run until the end of the season, but it is thought that CSKA are willing to make him available to other clubs in January.
Rams head coach Steve McClaren has identified the frontman as a player who could help his team win promotion to the Premier League, according to talkSPORT.
Necid has scored seven goals in 12 appearances for Zwolle this term.
