The Europa League returned on Thursday night as Portuguese side Estoril Praia hosted Sevilla.

The two sides were entering the game on differing side's of the form book as the home side were flying high in Primeira Liga, while the Spanish side were struggling in La Liga.

However, Unai Emery's side proved to have too much quality for the Estoril on the night as they came away with a 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Victor Machin and Kevin Gameiro.

Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Europa League Group H clash between Estoril and Sevilla.

The home side have started their league campaign in Portugal as they are currently fourth in Primeira Liga after taking seven points from their opening four games.

However, they've fallen away slightly after winning their opening two games as they've drawn and lost their couple.

Sevilla have had a very poor start to their La Liga campaign as they've taken just two points from their opening four games, which has left them 19th in the table.

The loss of Alvaro Negredo doesn't appear to have affected them up front as they've scored five goals in four games, however, they've struggled to keep them conceding eight.

The teams are in and we'll begin with the home side.

ESTORIL STARTING XI: Silva, Tavares, Bruno Miguel, Mano, Goncalo, Babanco, Filipe, Evandro, Javier Balboa, Leal, Seba.

SEVILLA STARTING XI: Javi Varas, Navarro, Cala, Figeurias, Moreno, Mbia, Marin, Iborra, Rabello, Machin, Bacca.

The teams are making their way out onto the pitch and we should be underway shortly at the Estadio Antonio Coimbra da Mota.

We're underway in Portugal.

Early chance for the visitors as Moreno lines up an effort from the edge of the area but his left-footed shot is deflected wide of the target.

Sevilla again pressure the Estoril backline as Bacca raids into the box but Bruno Miguel is on hand to make a good tackle to break up the attack.

The home side have their first crack at goal as Filipe tries an ambitious effort from the edge of the area but his shot sails over the bar.

CHANCE!! Bacca finds space in the area again and this time he gets his shot away but Silva makes an excellent save to deny the striker.

Sloppy play from the hosts as the concede two cheap free kicks allowing Sevilla to knock the ball into the box, but Miguel is there to clear the danger with two quality headers.

Marin raids forward and beats two challenges but when he tries to thread through Bacca, Mano is there to intercept the ball for the home side.

CHANCE!! Marin beats the offside trap and raids down the left, he cuts inside on his right foot and shoots but he curls his effort past the post. That was a chance but the home side are furious with the linesman for not raising his flag.

CHANCE!! Machin jinks his way into the box, he gets to the dead-ball line and fires a ball across the face of goal, where Silva and then Miguel deflect it away from goal. Another close call.

The home side are trying to calm the game down a bit, they've been struggling with Sevilla's pace on the break in the opening 20 minutes, which if not for Silva could have been costly.

An extended period of possession for Estoril but they are yet to threaten Varas's goal with any attempt, with Filipe's early effort the closest they've come so far.

YELLOW CARD! Babanco goes in the book for the home side for a late tackle on Figueiras.

Estoril's turn to threaten from a free kick as Babanco goes down on the edge of the area. Filipe lifts a cross into the area but the danger is easily cleared by the visitors.

Leal is played through on goal by Filipe but his touch is far too heavy and the ball trickles out for a goal kick. That was a great opportunity for the striker to press into the box.

The teams are taking it in turns to present each other with cheap free kicks. First Goncalo brings down Marin, then the defender is a victim of a challenge from Machin. Sloppy play this half.

YELLOW CARD! Stephane Mbia goes into the book for the visitors.

YELLOW CARD! Evandro becomes the second player from the home side to enter the book for a challenge on Marin.

CHANCE!! Iborra slips a through ball for Bacca, he takes a touch but Silva rushes out of his goal to divert the ball away from him. The striker's touch was heavy and helped the keeper out there, that should of been a goal.

Just what the game needs is more cheap free kicks, as Evandro brings down Moreno and within sight of half time Marin concedes a foul on Seba.

There will be one minute of added time.

HALF TIME: Estoril 0-0 Sevilla

It's half-time in Portugal and it's all square between the side's in this Group H clash.

It has been a game short on quality as both sides have struggled to carve out clear cut opportunities and when they have done there has been a distinct lack of cutting edge in front of the net.

We're back underway in Portugal.

CHANCE!! Marin does extremely well and nearly opens the scoring, as he gets the ball down the left and cuts right across the face of goal beating several challenges before firing a right-footed shot inches past the post.

Both teams are back into their ranks now, if someone is going to break the deadlock it's going to take a bit of magic, like Marin almost created there.

Marin involved again he beats two challenge and links up with Bacca as he looks for a quick one-two but the striker delays his pass slightly and the midfielder stops his run, leaving the ball to go out for a goal kick. The Sevilla duo were not on the same page there.

Sevilla work the ball down the left again, as Moreno pushes forward from left-back, he feeds Bacca on the edge of the penalty area but again his touch is heavy and the home side clear.

Marin pushes forward again, he takes a heavy touch and is in a foot race with Mano to reach the ball but the right-back does well to beat the German it and clear the danger on his own 18-yard line.

GOAL! Estoril 0-1 Sevilla (Machin)

Sevilla take the lead and it's Machin who has found the net, as he was picked out by Marin with a through ball on the right and he took the ball in stride and buried a right-footed shot into the net.

GOAL! Estoril 1-1 Sevilla (Bruno Miguel)

The home side are level immediately as Babanco slides a through ball for Evandro to chase, he gets enough on the ball to divert it to Miguel who crashes it into the top corner, when presented with an empty net.

Some calm after the storm as Sevilla try to establish themselves in the game once more, they had been the better side after half time but let their lead slip straight away.

Marin pushed his side forward yet again down the left, he tries to thread a ball through for the advancing Gameiro but Tavares was there to clear the danger.

Both teams look dangerous on the counterattack now, which means they're being weary about committing too many men forward. It's anyone's game at the minute.

CHANCE! Marin lifts a ball to the backpost for Mbia, he drills an effort across the face of goal but no player in white can get a touch and the ball goes harmlessly wide.

GOAL! Estoril 1-2 Sevilla (Gameiro)

Sevilla retake the lead as Moreno's whips a cross to the backpost, Rakitic misses his header but the ball lands at the feet of Gameiro, who takes a touch and lashes an effort into the bottom corner.

That goal has really deflated the home side, it was an even game up to that point but Gameiro showed a cutting edge in front of goal with a fine finish. It's 10 men behind the ball now for Sevilla.

SHOT! Galvao tries his luck with an effort from distance but Varas makes a comfortable save down low to his right.

The home side push forward in numbers but they're caught on the break by Sevilla, who quickly hit an out ball to Gamiero, he takes a touch and slips in Marin, but blasts an effort at Silva who makes the save.

Marin slides a dangerous ball looking for the run of Gameiro to kill the game, but Gerso gets back at the Frenchman with an inch perfect tackle to win the ball and end the attack.

The home side are really trying to up the ante now, there are 10 men inside the Sevilla half looking for that equaliser. Can they get it?

Evandro finds space on the left for Estoril, he tries to pick out the run of Leal, who chests the ball down but just as he is about to strike the ball, it's knocked away from him by Cala.

CHANCE! Gerso does well down the left as he beats his man, turning him one way then the other, he looks up and lifts a deep cross into the box where he finds the run of Miguel at the backpost. He heads at goal but Varas is there to make a brilliant save on the line, turning the ball away.

FULL TIME: Estoril 1-2 Sevilla

Sevilla secure the win in this Group H clash, they were on top for most of the second half and probably deserved to win due to their clinical edge in front of goal.

The home side produced some moments in the game but didn't quite have the quality to get the point and when they did produce they were stopped by some quality keeping from Varas.

Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. We'll be back with more football action at the weekend, until then, goodbye.
