Everton 'in loan deal for Sunderland's Adam Johnson'

Everton are close to securing a move for Adam Johnson on a season-long loan from Sunderland, according to reports.

Everton will reportedly complete a season-long loan deal to bring Sunderland winger Adam Johnson to Goodison Park this summer.

The People claims that manager Roberto Martinez has been looking for a wide player to add to his squad ahead of their Europa League campaign next season, and has earmarked the 26-year-old as a prime target.

It is thought that the Black Cats are also looking to offload the England international during the transfer window, with the club keen to reduce their spending on wages.

However, Everton are said to be unwilling to pay out a fee for the ex-Manchester City player and are happy to use the loan market again after enjoying success last season.
