Everton striker Tom Cannon is reportedly on his way to Leicester City to complete a medical before joining the Foxes in a deal worth £7.5m.

Everton striker Tom Cannon has reportedly agreed terms to join Championship side Leicester City.

The 20-year-old had a fruitful spell in the Championship last season, scoring eight goals in 20 appearances for Preston North End after joining in the January transfer window.

However, the arrival of Portuguese pair Beto and Youssef Chermiti means that Cannon has fallen further down the pecking order under Everton boss Sean Dyche.

The Athletic claims that Cannon is due to arrive at Leicester's base to undergo a medical before completing a £7.5m transfer.

Chermiti started Everton's EFL Cup tie with Doncaster Rovers on Wednesday, with Beto coming off the bench, while Cannon was not named in the squad altogether.

Cannon was brought on in injury time during Everton's 1-0 defeat at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers last week, and that remains his only action of the season so far.

With Everton's current perilous financial position, sales are needed for them to strengthen the squad, and with other areas of the pitch needing improvement, Dyche was reportedly willing to let the striker leave.
