FIFA Corruption Scandal

FIFA was rocked by a fresh corruption scandal when seven football officials were arrested in Zurich on May 27 over allegations of bribery, money laundering and racketeering. The Swiss and US authorities have confirmed that 14 people overall have been indicted after more than $100m (£65m) was allegedly accepted in bribes from the 1990s to the present day.
A separate investigation looking into the allocation of the 2018 Russia World Cup and 2022 Qatar World Cup has also been opened. As a result of these allegations, pressure is mounting on FIFA president Sepp Blatter.
