Half-Time Report: David McGoldrick gives Ipswich Town the lead

David McGoldrick strikes in first-half stoppage time to give Ipswich Town a 1-0 lead against Millwall in the Championship.

David McGoldrick struck in first-half stoppage time to give Ipswich Town a 1-0 half-time lead against Millwall in the Championship.

The striker marked his recall to the side with a goal on the stroke of half time to give Mick McCarthy's side the advantage at Portman Road.

Mathias Ranegie had earlier spurned a decent opening for Millwall when he headed over the bar from Scott Malone's good delivery on 23 minutes.

Paul Anderson was denied on 28 minutes when met a cross from Chris Parr, but the former Liverpool midfielder's effort was well saved by David Forde in the Millwall goal.

Anderson went close again five minutes later when he fired wide from the edge of the box after McGoldrick had teed his teammate up.
