Two late goals for LA Galaxy have secured a 3-1 victory over the Portland Timbers at the Home Depot Center.
Galaxy started the brighter of the two sides but both Landon Donovan and David Beckham found Troy Perkins a difficult opponent in the Portland goal.
Despite being on the back foot during the opening exchanges, it was Portland who broke the deadlock as Eric Alexander set up Kris Boyd who fired his shot past Josh Saunders from the edge of the area.
The opening goal sparked a response from Los Angeles and they found their way back into the game on the stroke of half time as Landon Donovan found space in the area before finishing well to level the scores heading into the break.
In the second period Galaxy appeared to be beginning to take control of the match but were frustrated by a stubborn Portland defence on a number of occasions.
As the game entered the final ten minutes Juninho forced the breakthrough for Los Angeles as he picked out the bottom corner of the goal from just outside the area to take the lead.
It was left to Beckham to secure the victory in stoppage time as the former England captain collected a pass from Donovan before firing his shot into the top corner of the goal.
