Sports Mole takes a close look at each Championship club's transfer targets with 16 days remaining in the winter window.

With more than half of the January window yet to come, the transfer rumours continue to gather pace as Championship clubs attempt to boost their squads for the second part of the season.

Here, Sports Mole takes a close look at each club's targets with 16 days remaining.

Barnsley

It is understood that Barnsley's new manager David Flitcroft has been handed funds to improve his squad in the January window. However, the club has yet to sound out any possible targets. Young defender John Stones has been linked with a move to Everton, with Magaye Gueye moving in the other direction.

Fulham could also tempt Barnsley with an offer for Stones, in addition to sending some young players to aid their Championship survival mission. Permanent arrivals at the club are unlikely at this stage of the season, with loan moves a more likely occurrence.

Birmingham City

Birmingham have yet to move in the January window, with most of their efforts being put into keeping their star players at the club. Serbian striker Nikola Zigic is expected to leave, but has thus far been unable to negotiate a move to Villarreal. Young stars Nathan Redmond and Jack Butland are also on the wishlist of a number of clubs, but no official movement has been made.

The club have been linked with a permanent move for West Ham United midfielder Ravel Morrison, who has enjoyed a successful loan spell at St Andrew's this season. Blackburn Rovers stopper Paul Robinson is another interesting name on the list, while Stoke City striker Cameron Jerome has also been linked with a loan move to his former club.

Blackburn Rovers

It has been a difficult season for Blackburn as they attempt to come to terms with Championship football, in addition to a host of managers exiting the club. It is understood that there is money to spend, however, and the lure of Ewood Park as one of the biggest clubs in the league means that they do have pulling power.

Stoke City's Cameron Jerome has been linked with a move to the club, while Tottenham Hotspur's out-of-favour goalkeeper Brad Friedel has also been mooted should Paul Robinson, who is a target for a number of clubs, depart. A loan move for West Ham United's Jordan Spence could also transpire should Martin Olsson join the Premier League club.

Blackpool

Much of Blackpool's reported activity this month will depend on the possible sale of Thomas Ince. The former Liverpool midfielder has been linked with a return to Anfield, while Tottenham Hotspur are also in the picture. A figure of £8m has been mooted, with at least half of that being made available to reinvest in the squad.

Queens Park Rangers striker DJ Campbell has been linked with a return to Bloomfield Road, while it is also understood that the club want to sign Aston Villa striker Nathan Delfouneso on a permanent deal. A new goalkeeper would also be required should Matt Gilks depart the club, but transfer business is certainly on hold until a new manger is appointed.

Bolton Wanderers

It is understood that Bolton's main priority in January is to turn Aston Villa defender Stephen Warnock's loan move into a permanent transfer. The former Liverpool left-back has been a dependable performer for the club this season, but they have also been linked with a loan move for Manchester United's Alexander Buttner.

Martin Petrov has already departed the club and he could soon be followed by Mark Davies and Marcos Alonso. A permanent move for Liverpool's Jay Spearing is also reportedly high on the agenda, along with possible loan moves for Manchester City defender Dedryck Boyata and Copenhagen's Solvi Ottesen.

Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Gus Poyet has been strongly linked with a move for Malaga midfielder Sebastian Fernandez this month. The 27-year-old, who is a Uruguayan international, would be a major coup for the Championship club should the transfer materialise. A move for America striker Leonardo Ulloa is also reportedly close to being completed as Poyet targets a promotion push.

The club are also reportedly keen on signing Manchester City defender Wayne Bridge on a permanent transfer, while they are also keeping tabs on Dedryck Boyata, who has also been strongly linked with Bolton Wanderers. Liam Bridcutt and Craig Mackail-Smith have been linked with departures, but it is understood that both will remain until at least the end of the season.

Bristol City

New Bristol City boss Sean O'Driscoll has reportedly been handed funds to make signings in the January window, with Crawley defender Kyle McFadzean high on the wishlist. Manchester City defender Reece Wabara is also high on the agenda, but the club will have to stave off interest from a host of Championship clubs in order to sign the England Under-20 international on loan.

Venezuelan international Frank Feltscher is currently on trial at the club and will feature in a friendly match on Tuesday afternoon as he attempts to win a contract. Meanwhile, O'Driscoll will reportedly move for young Hull City duo Mark Cullen and Danny Emerton as he attempts to build for the future.

Burnley

Burnley's main transfer goal this summer is to keep Charlie Austin at the club. The young striker has been the subject of interest from a number of Premier League teams, but it is understood that no official offer for the former Swindon Town forward has been made. Should Austin depart, then a move for Cliftonville striker Liam Boyce, who has scored 22 goals this season, could be on the agenda.

Tranmere full-back Zoumana Bakayogo, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has also been strongly linked with Turf Moor. Meanwhile, Manchester United midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe is another name that has been strongly linked with a loan move to the Championship club.

Cardiff City

Despite the fact that the Welsh outfit are sitting pretty at the top of the Championship table, boss Malky Mackay is still reportedly intent on improving his squad in January. It is understood that the club are interested in signing Burnley striker Charlie Austin, but they have been priced out of a move, meaning that Bolton Wanderers striker Marvin Sordell could be a more realistic target.

Wigan Athletic defender Antolin Alcaraz and Queens Park Rangers striker DJ Campbell have also been linked with moves to Cardiff, but thus far no official bids have been made. Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jake Livermore is another name that has cropped up, but it is understood that the player is keen to remain in the Premier League.

Charlton Athletic

The Addicks are not expected to complete too much business in January, but a player that could arrive at the club is Colchester United midfielder Anthony Wordsworth. However, Charlton are not the only club in the race, with Ipswich Town understood to be the favourites to acquire the playmaker. Much of Chris Powell's business could depend on whether they are able to move players out the exit door.

Charlton midfielder Bradley Pritchard has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs and should a move transpire, then Aldershot Town striker Danny Hylton, whose contract will expire at the end of the season, could join the club.

Crystal Palace

The most sought-after player in the Championship, Wilfried Zaha, is expected to depart the club in January. Manchester United and Arsenal are understood to lead the race, but Ian Holloway is keen for the England international to remain on loan until the end of the season. Should transfer funds arrive, then moves for Queens Park Rangers striker and Peterborough United's George Boyd could transpire.

West Bromwich Albion winger Jerome Thomas is another name that has been linked with the club, along with Bristol City midfielder Albert Adomah. Holloway could also reportedly contact Sir Alex Ferguson in order to bring young Manchester United duo Federico Macheda and Nick Powell on loan.

Derby County

Along with Wilfried Zaha, Derby midfielder Will Hughes is one of the hottest properties in the Championship. The playmaker has been linked with moves to Manchester City and Arsenal, while Barcelona have also reportedly registered an interest. Should he depart the club in January, which does seem unlikely, then money will be made available to invest in the squad.

The return of Jake Buxton has eased some defensive problems, but a central defender remains high on the agenda. A loan move for Queens Park Rangers midfielder Shaun Derry is not entirely out of the question according to reports, while Aston Villa striker Jordan Bowery is expected to arrive on loan this week.

Huddersfield Town

Shrewsbury striker Marvin Morgan has been strongly linked with a move to Town, but it is understood that a number of Championship clubs are also monitoring proceedings. Should Simon Grayson miss out on Morgan, then a loan move for Norwich City striker James Vaughan could materialise. Sunderland striker Frazier Campbell has also been linked with a move, but thus far no official bid has been made.

There is still money to spend following the sale of Jordan Rhodes to Blackburn Rovers in the summer, but Grayson could once more take advantage of the loan market with a double swoop for Manchester United midfield duo Ryan Tunnicliffe and Nick Powell.

Hull City

Hull boss Steve Bruce has reportedly targeted a move for Sunderland goalkeeper Kieren Westwood, but has so far been frustrated in his attempts to sign the Republic of Ireland international. A more realistic target appears to be Fulham stopper David Stockdale, with Cottagers boss Martin Jol keen for the Englishman to gain some regular first-team football.

A return to the KC Stadium for Sunderland striker Frazier Campbell could also transpire, initially on loan with a permanent deal at the end of the season. David Meyler and Robbie Brady have both arrived at the club this month, meaning that most of Bruce's business has already been completed.

Ipswich Town

Ipswich are reportedly close to signing Colchester United midfielder Anthony Wordsworth, with the 24-year-old expected to arrive at Portman Road this week, while Lee Camp could also arrive from Nottingham Forest. Another interesting name that has cropped up this week is Kieron Dyer, who has departed Queens Park Rangers. Mick McCarthy could also raid former club Sunderland for Titus Bramble, but no official bid has been made.

A move for Reading striker Noel Hunt has also been mentioned, along with Brighton defender Lewis Dunk, who is expected to depart in January with his contract expiring at the end of the season. Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Ronald Zubar has also been mooted as McCarthy attempts to tighten up his defence.

Leeds United

Leeds boss Neil Warnock has been strongly linked with a move for Saint-Etienne attacker Max Gradel, who only departed Elland Road in the summer. Should that transfer fail to materialise, then the club could look to West Bromwich Albion's Jerome Thomas. However, a move for Wolves striker Kevin Doyle has reportedly broken down over personal terms.

Zulte Waregem striker Habib Habibou has also reportedly spent a period training with the club in recent weeks, with the African keen to gain a contract at Elland Road. Ross Barkley has arrived from Everton on a one-month loan deal and Warnock could attempt to keep the young midfielder at the club for the remainder of the season.

Leicester City

The latest defender to be linked with Leicester is Blackpool's Alex Baptiste. However, with Premier League clubs reportedly interested in signing the centre-back, then Nigel Pearson may be forced to look elsewhere as he readies the club for a promotion push in the second part of the season. Stoke City striker Kenwyne Jones has nailed down a spot with the Potters in recent weeks, meaning that a move for the powerful forward is unlikely.

Manchester United midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe has been linked with a loan move to the Championship outfit, but Leicester are reportedly just one of a number of clubs interested in signing the youngster. Should a move fail to materialise, than Reading's Jay Tabb, who is free to depart, could arrive to boost the numbers in midfield.

Middlesbrough

A loan move for former Middlesbrough midfielder Stewart Downing appears wide of the mark despite reports suggesting that Liverpool were prepared to let the England international leave this month. Former Bolton Wanderers midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker is available on a free transfer and has been linked with the Riverside, along with Manchester United defender Alexander Buttner.

Reports have also emerged of a possible loan move for Stoke City midfielder Wilson Palacios, while Graham Dorrens has been told that he can leave West Bromwich Albion and is also a reported target. A move for Scottish goalkeeper Craig Gordon, who has been without a club since leaving Sunderland, is also not entirely out of the question.

Millwall

Martyn Woolford completed a move to Millwall last week, but Kenny Jackett is reportedly still intent on boosting his slim squad ahead of the second part of the season. Interest in Reading defender Ian Harte appears to be genuine, but it is not yet clear whether the Premier League club would be willing to let the experienced defender leave as they attempt to secure survival. Having missed out on Chris Wood, a striker remains a priority, with Stoke City's Cameron Jerome mooted.

West Bromwich Albion winger Jerome Thomas is also reportedly interesting the club, along with Peterborough United's George Boyd. However, it is understood that no movement has been made on either front. A move for Reading striker Simon Church appears more likely with the player keen on securing first-team football.

Nottingham Forest

New Nottingham Forest boss Alex McLeish has reportedly been hit with a blow with the news that Polish midfielder Radoslaw Majewski has refused to sign a new deal at the club with his contract expiring in the summer. Good news could arrive, however, with the possible acquisition of Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Rob Green on a loan deal.

A move for Peterborough United midfielder George Boyd was described as 'derisory' by Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony, but a move for Manchester City full-back Reece Wabara has reportedly gathered pace. The loss of Lee Camp, who is reportedly close to joining Ipswich Town, could force McLeish into a move for Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Paul Robinson.

Peterborough United

Manchester United duo Scott Wootton and Davide Petrucci joined the club last week, but Darren Ferguson could approach his father for two more players in the shape of Nick Powell and Federico Macheda. Aldershot striker Danny Hylton has also been linked with a move, but his arrival could depend on whether George Boyd is allowed to depart the club.

Stevenage striker Luke Freeman has also been mentioned along with Lukas Akins, but thus far no official bid has been made for either player, according to reports. Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has also been linked with a loan move to the Championship club, but a more realistic signing appears to be Ryan Hall from Leeds United.

Sheffield Wednesday

Tranmere Rovers full-back Zoumana Bakayogo has been linked with a move to Wednesday, but with a number of Championship clubs in the picture, the club could be forced to look elsewhere. Cardiff City striker Robert Earnshaw has been told that he can depart the Welsh outfit and he has also been mooted as a possible signing.

Reading midfielder Jay Tabb could arrive on a free transfer, while the club are also reportedly keen on signing Queens Park Rangers striker Jay Bothroyd on a permanent basis. A move for Norwich City striker Steve Morison has also been mentioned should Mamady Sidibe return to Stoke City until the end of the season.

Watford

Watford have been boosted by the permanent signing of Fernando Forestieri from Udinese this week. However, a permanent move for Mataj Vydra, who has scored 14 league goals or the club this season, is unlikely with Udinese keen to recall the young forward. Bournemouth striker Wes Thomas could ease the loss of Vydra, but Derby County are also understood to be interested.

Manchester City full-back Reece Wabara could also arrive to boost the numbers in defence, along with Reading midfielder Jay Tabb who has been told that he can leave the Premier League club. Another player that could also arrive to provide competition in midfield is Chris Burke, who is reportedly unhappy with life at Birmingham City.

Wolverhampton Wanderers

It is understood that Dean Saunders has funds to spend in January as he attempts to provide a late push for the playoffs. Leigh Griffiths is expected to return to Molineux to provide competition in attack, while Birmingham City defender Curtis Davies has also been linked with the club. A £1m bid for Derby County striker Jamie Ward has also been mooted, although no official movement has been made.

Wolves are also looking at Norwich City striker Simeon Jackson according to a number of reports, with the forward's contract expiring at the end of the season. A bid for Willem II forward Jeroen Lumu was rejected by the Dutch club, while a move for Ipswich Town striker Jason Scotland appears to be wide of the mark.
