Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has claimed that his side controlled the game during their 1-1 draw with Sunderland this afternoon.
The Black Cats took the lead in the first half through Steven Fletcher, but Luis Suarez eventually found an equaliser for the Reds after they had missed a number of chances and hit the woodwork twice.
Gerrard believes that no-one could begrudge his side at least a point, and also called for patience as the team look to adapt to Brendan Rodgers's style of play.
"We knew change wouldn't happen overnight," he said. "We have tried hard and even though we drew, we completely controlled the game. No-one watching can say we didn't deserve it."
Liverpool, who are still looking for their first league win of the season, face Manchester United at Anfield next weekend.
