Adam Lallana rejects Graeme Souness injury claims

Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana believes that the club's recent spate of hamstring injuries is down to bad luck rather than their training regime.

Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana has insisted that the club's recent injury crisis is down to bad luck rather than changes to their training regime.

The Reds currently have 12 players ruled out through injury, six of whom are suffering from hamstring strains after Philippe Coutinho and Dejan Lovren both limped off with similar problems during a 1-0 win over Stoke City in the League Cup on Tuesday.

Former Liverpool midfielder Graeme Souness suggested that the injuries could be a result of Jurgen Klopp's high-tempo style of play, but Lallana does not believe that is the case.

"I don't think these injuries have got anything to do with any changes to our training," Lallana told reporters.

"Sometimes you are just unlucky with injuries and we've had a lot of bad luck recently. At Liverpool we've got a world-class medical team here. We certainly can't point the finger at anyone."

In addition to Coutinho and Lovren, Liverpool are also currently missing Daniel Sturridge, Martin Skrtel, Divock Origi and Jordan Rossiter to hamstring injuries.
