Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that he has full confidence in goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.
Mignolet's general form this season has been good, but the Belgian keeper came under fire in December after making costly errors in back-to-back defeats at Manchester City and Chelsea.
"The fact is that Simon has been a wonderful capture for us," Rodgers told the Liverpool Echo. "Okay, people will maybe look at a few of mistakes Simon has made but I just think it's normal for a keeper to make mistakes.
"I remember once listening to [former Arsenal and Scotland goalkeeper] Bob Wilson who said expect a top keeper to make maybe 70 mistakes a season. If you think Simon is on three, then he's done all right.
"His attitude has been excellent and the saves he has made for us have been exceptional. There will be one or two areas he will maybe be disappointed with, but I will always take an honest mistake from someone who is working tirelessly to be the best they can be."
Mignolet has kept six clean sheets in 21 Premier League appearances for the Reds.
