Mamadou Sakho tips Mario Balotelli to hit the goal trail

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho backs teammate Mario Balotelli to hit the goal trail after the Italian netted the winner against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday.

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has tipped teammate Mario Balotelli to add to his tally after the Italian striker netted his first Premier League goal for the Reds in Tuesday's 3-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

Balotelli was brought on as a second-half substitute and grabbed the winning goal for Brendan Rodgers's men, and the effort was just the striker's third since his £16m move from AC Milan back in August.

Sakho told the club's official website: "It's great news for him, for the team and for the club.

"I hope he will score many goals for the team because he is a very good man and I know every day he works hard in training. I'm happy for him."

Liverpool travel to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup this weekend.
