Liverpool could reportedly move for Paris Saint-Germain's Leandro Paredes this summer if Lionel Messi arrives in Paris.

Liverpool could reportedly make a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Leandro Paredes this summer if the French giants sign Lionel Messi on a free transfer.

Messi's expected arrival in Paris will mean that the Ligue 1 outfit will have to move some players on before the end of the transfer window in order to balance the books.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the deal for the former Barcelona attacker could open the door for Liverpool to sign Paredes, with the Reds determined to boost their midfield for the 2021-22 campaign.

Jurgen Klopp's side are yet to sign a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum, who moved to PSG on a free transfer this summer, despite being linked with a number of players in recent weeks.

Paredes joined Les Parisiens in January 2019 and has made 91 appearances for the club in all competitions, contributing two goals and seven assists.

The 27-year-old was a regular for Mauricio Pochettino's side during the 2020-21 campaign, making 36 appearances in all competitions, while he played an important role in Argentina's Copa America success.
