Liverpool are reportedly prepared to keep defender Nathaniel Clyne at Anfield for the upcoming campaign.

Liverpool have reportedly decided to keep Nathaniel Clyne at the club for the upcoming season.

Clyne missed the majority of the most recent campaign due to a back injury, and the England international is no longer regarded as a certain starter at right-back.

Liverpool have options in the position with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez both impressing in the role last season, but according to the London Evening Standard, there are currently no plans to part ways with Clyne.

The 27-year-old has played an active role during Liverpool's pre-season programme, with five appearances coming for the Merseyside giants since the start of July.

Alexander-Arnold is expected to become first choice when considered match-fit by manager Jurgen Klopp, but Clyne could get the nod when Liverpool host West Ham United on Sunday afternoon.

Clyne currently has two years remaining on his contract at the club.
