David Silva has handed Manchester City a major boost by returning to training just two days after leaving the field against West Ham United on a stretcher.
The Spanish schemer was initially thought to have suffered a fractured cheekbone in the 2-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium, having been caught in the face by Cheikhou Kouyate's outstretched arm.
However, City yesterday played down the severity of the injury, and Silva has today rejoined his teammates at the club's football academy to take part in a training session.
It is now thought that he could return for next weekend's meeting against Aston Villa, with the Citizens currently occupying fourth place in the league table.
