Edin Dzeko has admitted that he was "surprised" to have started during Manchester City's 4-3 win over Norwich City last night.
In the days leading up to the encounter, it had been reported that Carlos Tevez would partner his fellow Argentine Sergio Aguero in attack.
However, Roberto Mancini opted to use Dzeko instead of Tevez and the Bosnian repaid his manager's faith by scoring twice at Carrow Road.
"I didn't expect to play because it looked in training that I wouldn't," Dzeko told the club's official website. "I was surprised before the game when the manager gave the team. Everyone wants to play, I was back and gave the maximum."
Dzeko has scored 10 goals in all competitions so far this season.
