Ashley Young: 'Memphis Depay will cope with PSV Eindhoven return'

Memphis Depay will cope with the pressure of returning to PSV Eindhoven, according to his Manchester United teammate Ashley Young.

Ashley Young has insisted that his Manchester United teammate Memphis Depay will not be overawed by Tuesday evening's trip to his former club PSV Eindhoven.

Twenty-one-year-old Depay, who rose through the ranks at the Philips Stadion, scored 22 goals to help PSV win the Eredivisie title last term.

That form convinced United manager Louis van Gaal to part with a reported £25m to take the Netherlands international to Old Trafford this summer and he has gone on to find the net twice in seven outings for the Red Devils.

Ex-PSV head coach Aad de Mos recently claimed that Depay would be given a hard time upon his return for the Champions League group encounter, but Young has claimed that his fellow winger has the mental strength to "handle the occasion".

"We're looking forward to Tuesday's game but it won't be easy. We know we can expect something different from PSV," he told the club's official website.

"It'll be nice for Memphis going back. He's an old head on young shoulders, so he'll be able to handle the occasion, as will all the players who go over there."

In total, United's number seven scored 50 goals in 124 appearances for PSV.
