Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford could reportedly miss the start of the 2021-22 Premier League season after undergoing surgery.

Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford is set to undergo surgery which could rule him out of the start of the 2021-22 season, according to a report.

The England international endured a taxing season with the Red Devils last term, making 57 appearances in all competitions and suffering several bumps and bruises along the way.

Rashford is expected to play a prominent role in England's Euro 2020 campaign, but according to The Mirror, he has been playing through shoulder and foot pain for a large chunk of the season.

As a result, the 23-year-old is supposedly set to go under the knife to address the issue, and depending on how far England make it in the Euros, he may be forced to miss the opening stages of the new Premier League season.

Should England make it to the final on July 11, Rashford would have just over a month to recover before the 2021-22 Premier League gets underway, but the attacker would need ample time to recuperate and build up his match fitness.

Rashford's teammate Mason Greenwood has already withdrawn from England's Euros squad amid his own fitness concerns, while Trent Alexander-Arnold will play no part after sustaining a thigh injury against Austria.
