Absence of Ryan Giggs sparks conflicting reports

Conflicting stories break out as Ryan Giggs misses Manchester United's 3-0 victory over Stoke City at Old Trafford.

Ryan Giggs was not in the Manchester United dugout for tonight's 3-0 win over Stoke City, which has sparked conflicting reports.

According to one of the leading bookmakers, the assistant manager's absence was down to the fact that he is on the verge of replacing Ronny Deila as the new boss of Celtic.

However, The Independent has dismissed that notion, claiming that the 42-year-old was not present due to an illness in his family.

United manager Louis van Gaal is due to speak to the media shortly, when he may be asked about Giggs's situation.
