Manchester United's attacking quartet excites Wayne Rooney

Wayne Rooney reveals that he, Robin van Persie, Juan Mata and Adnan Januzaj have been working on an understanding during training.

Wayne Rooney has revealed that he is "really pleased" to be a part of Manchester United's attacking quartet.

For the first time since Juan Mata signed from Chelsea last month, manager David Moyes started the Spaniard in an advanced role alongside Rooney, Robin van Persie and teenager Adnan Januzaj against Crystal Palace last night.

Rooney and Van Persie were the scorers in a 2-0 win at Selhurst Park, and the England international has revealed that the four of them have been working on their understanding in recent weeks.

"We've been working hard in training on [having a good understanding]. Making sure we keep the ball better around their penalty box and then trying to create chances. I thought we did it quite well. It can better but I thought we did well and I'm really pleased," he told MUTV.

Out of that quartet, Mata will not feature against Olympiacos in the Champions League on Tuesday night because he is cup-tied.
