Manchester United are reportedly hopeful that Amad Diallo can establish himself as a first-team player at Old Trafford.
Amad has scored one goal and provided one assist in nine senior appearances at Man United, while he spent the second half of last season on loan at Rangers, where he failed to nail down a regular starting place.
The 20-year-old managed to contribute three goals across 13 games for the Scottish club, before he returned to Old Trafford at the end of the campaign.
After taking part in pre-season, the Red Devils sent Diallo back out on loan to Championship side Sunderland in a bid to get some minutes under his belt.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Man United staff are optimistic that the youngster can become a first-team regular at the club, and that Diallo needs a run of 10 games to show his quality.
His first start for Sunderland did not arrive until October 4, but he has since played an important role for the Championship side, scoring three goals in his last five games before the World Cup break.
Man United have the option to recall Diallo in the January transfer window should they wish or they could allow him to see out the season with Sunderland.
