Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has criticised Fred for his part in Southampton's goal during Sunday's Premier League clash at St Mary's.
The Saints took the lead in the 30th minute of the contest when Che Adams's strike deflected off Fred's foot before finding its way into the bottom corner of the net.
Harry Maguire was also in close attendance when the incident occurred, and Keane criticised the role that both players had in the goal, which was enough to earn Ralph Hasenhuttl's side a point in a 1-1 draw.
"Fred and Maguire have to do more when someone comes into your area,' Keane told Sky Sports News. "Fred, you've got to be ready to nail him and he just dangles a leg. He's unlucky with the deflection but he's got to do more, he's got to do better than that."
Mason Greenwood made it two goals in his two Premier League appearances this season when he levelled the scores in the early stage of the second period.
However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side could not find a second, as they missed the chance to move onto six points from their opening two matches of the 2021-22 campaign.
