Three players that could leave Barcelona before the end of the transfer window

Sports Mole looks at three players that could leave Barcelona before the end of the summer transfer window.

Barcelona are bidding to further improve their squad before the end of the transfer window, but they will need to move players in order for that to be the case.

Xavi's side have already brought in Andreas Christensen, Franck Kessie, Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski and Jules Kounde this summer.

Manchester City's Bernardo Silva, Chelsea's Marcos Alonso and Borussia Dortmund's Thomas Meunier are believed to be among the targets for the Catalan giants before the end of the transfer window.

Samuel Umtiti and Martin Braithwaite have already been told that they will not be in Xavi's plans this term, with the duo set to leave before the deadline.

However, Sports Mole has picked out another three players that could depart the club before the end of the transfer window.

Frenkie de Jong

Frenkie de Jong's future remains the subject of much speculation, and it is still unclear what will happen with the Netherlands international in the final stages of the transfer window.

Manchester United have spent much of the last 10 weeks trying to sign the midfielder but have been unsuccessful in their attempts, while Chelsea have also allegedly recently joined the race.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has said on a number of occasions that the Dutchman will remain at Camp Nou, but the club are under pressure to make a major sale before the end of the window due to their financial issues.

De Jong is still thought to be owed £17m by Barcelona in deferred wages, which is believed to be one of the main issues currently holding up his move away from the club.

Man United are thought to have come to an agreement with Xavi's side over a €85m (£71.5m) deal but have still not managed to convince him to make the move to Old Trafford.

A switch to Old Trafford or Stamford Bridge simply cannot be ruled out in the latter stages of the transfer window, especially with Barcelona looking to make more signings over the next couple of weeks.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could also be on the move in the latter stages of the transfer window, with the former Gabon international likely to struggle for starts this season following the arrival of Lewandowski.

The 33-year-old only joined Barcelona in January after terminating his contract at Arsenal, and he impressed for the Catalan side in the second half of last season, scoring 13 goals and registering one assist in 23 appearances, including 11 goals in 17 La Liga outings.

Chelsea continue to be heavily linked with the striker, while there have also been suggestions of interest from Manchester United, who are desperate to bring in a new forward.

The striker played in England for Arsenal between 2018 and 2022, scoring 92 goals in 163 appearances for the North London club, only departing earlier this year due to the breakdown of his relationship with Gunners head coach Mikel Arteta.

There have been suggestions that Barcelona would want a fee in the region of £23m for Aubameyang, which would certainly help their finances, as his huge salary would also be moved away from the club.

Memphis Depay

De Jong and Aubameyang were both involved in Barcelona's goalless draw with Rayo Vallecano on the opening weekend of the new La Liga season, but Memphis Depay was an unused substitute.

The Netherlands international has been told that he is free to leave Camp Nou before the end of the window, with a number of clubs said to be keeping a close eye on the situation.

Juventus are thought to be at the head of the queue for the attacker, who has entered the final year of his contract at Camp Nou.

The 28-year-old scored 13 goals and registered two assists in 37 appearances for Barcelona last season, having made the move to the club on a free transfer from Lyon.

Memphis is likely to struggle for regular action this term, though, and is expected to move on before the end of the window.

Barcelona are believed to be prepared to let the Dutchman depart on a free transfer, which will not help them in terms of an upfront fee, but they will make savings when it comes to his wage packet.
