Chelsea 'to rival Manchester United for Verona youngster'

Chelsea are allegedly ready to rival Manchester United in the race to sign Hellas Verona youngster Marash Kumbulla.

Chelsea have reportedly identified Hellas Verona defender Marash Kumbulla as a potential signing.

Having had their transfer ban lifted, Chelsea are in the market for new players, with both young prospects and experienced stars interesting manager Frank Lampard.

According to Tuttomercato, the Blues are monitoring the development of Kumbulla, who has impressed in Serie A this season.

The 19-year-old has made 12 starts in Italy's top flight, helping Verona into eighth place in the standings.

Although Verona are open to cashing in on the Albanian, club officials are also wary of parting ways with one of their key men at the midway point of the campaign.

Manchester United and Juventus are also said to be monitoring the situation ahead of potentially making a bid this month.
