Juan Mata intends to reject any approach from former club Valencia for his signature, as he instead wants to remain at Manchester United beyond the end of this season.

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata is reportedly keen to remain at Old Trafford beyond the end of the season, amid reports that former club Valencia are interested in signing him on a free.

The Spain international is yet to be tied down to a new United contract, despite having less than six months to run on his current terms.

That has left the door open for Valencia to pounce for the 29-year-old, who spent four years at the Mestalla before joining Chelsea and then the Red Devils.

After being used 19 times in the Premier League this term, however, Spanish outlet Superdeporte suggests that Mata will turn down any offers from elsewhere in the hope of being rewarded with a new deal by Jose Mourinho.

United have the option to tie down Mata for a further 12 months if they trigger a clause in his contract.
